Even more McCay fun here in his hometown!
On Monday, June 15, at 7:00 pm. - (McCay Day Eve), Executive Chef Jim LaPerriere is coming to Spring Lake District Library to prepare Welsh Rarebit. Welsh Rarebit (which has nothing to do with our long-eared, cotton-tailed friends) is a savory melted cheese dish, which occasionally spawns some interesting comic nightmares, if you aren't careful. Enjoy some samples and take home some recipes. (Pre-registration required)

Hi
This comment isn't related to this specific posting, but I'm having trouble finding a contact email link so pardon me. I am a flipbook maker/art student and all around animation fan and I actually just stumble on your blog while looking up Windsor McCay info. I was really pleased and excited to see what you are doing and wish you all the best. I am from Michigan and people really deserve to know that we "have" such an amazing artist and animator from our state. I wish I could come for the dedication you all are having...sounds like an excellent time. I'm writing because I would like to know if you can recommend a good Windsor McCay book? I am looking for a big book with lots of McCay comics/drawing/artwork. I know there are several websites with good images, but I would really like to own a book that is chock full of good colored images. Any suggestions?
Hi Bajojo,
There are lots of great Winsor McCay books out there. Canemaker's biography is pretty definitive. As far as finding collections of McCay's artwork, I've tried to note and/or review books on this blog as I come across them. If you check the list of categories found on the right hand side of the Meeting McCay blog, you'll see a line that says "books." This would be a great place to start!
